Temple chariot set on fire in Andhra Pradesh, one arrested

A temple chariot was set on fire in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district around midnight on Tuesday, sparking tension in the area. One person has been arrested in connection with the arson incident.
According to the police, the chariot of Lord Ram was crafted by the family of Erriswamy Reddy from the Kanekallu region, with his brothers spending approximately Rs 20 lakh on its construction.
On Tuesday, locals discovered the chariot ablaze. By the time the fire was extinguished, it was completely charred.
Based on clues gathered by a dog squad, the police identified Erriswamy Reddy’s son, Ishwar Reddy, as the person responsible for setting the chariot on fire. He was arrested on Wednesday, Anantapur SP Jagdish confirmed. Ishwar Reddy allegedly has ties to the YSR Congress Party.
The police are still investigating the motive behind the incident, but officials stressed that there were no communal undertones involved.
